The 2025 Ohio High School Girls Soccer Season: Fan Favorites Revealed!
The fall season of Ohio high school girls soccer has concluded, and cleveland.com has been busy spotlighting the state's top talent. This year, they've compiled the best players, position by position, with the help of coaches' input. But here's where it gets exciting: fans got to vote for their favorites!
The Fan-Voted All-Stars
After cleveland.com released their lists, the fans took over, voting for the cream of the crop at each position. A huge congratulations to Highland midfielder Vanessa Zufall, who earned the most votes overall with a whopping 1,710 votes!
Here are the top two finishers in each category:
TOP FORWARDS
- Reese Gallagher, Archbishop Hoban, Senior: A 2025 All-State selection and Cleveland.com Player of the Year. Her exceptional skills and performance made her a standout player.
- Emma McTigue, Medina, Freshman: This freshman played both midfield and forward, earning All-State honors at forward. She scored 19 goals and had 7 assists. Coach Jason Rutkowski praised her dynamic and driven play, highlighting her as a top player in every game.
TOP MIDFIELDERS
- Vanessa Zufall, Highland, Senior: With 14 goals and 25 assists, Zufall led her team to the Division II regional semifinals this season.
- Naomi Sundermeier, Medina, Freshman: Another freshman star from Medina, Sundermeier was a key facilitator in the midfield, earning first-team All-Conference honors. Coach Rutkowski highlighted her consistency and predicted her future as a top player in the country.
TOP DEFENDERS
- Caitlyn Taylor, Medina, Senior: Taylor's strong defense helped Medina achieve an undefeated regular season and a conference championship. She received first-team conference and district honors.
- Avery George, Bexley, Senior: A Louisville commit, George had 5 goals and 3 assists in 2025 playing center back. Coach Scott James praised her exceptional 1v1 skills and leadership, calling her one of the best defenders he's ever coached.
TOP GOALKEEPERS
- Grace Gettig, Kenston, Senior: Gettig finished her senior season with 12 wins, 8 shutouts, and 102 saves. Coach Eric Sway noted her mentorship of younger goalkeepers and her legacy at Kenston High School.
- Madelyn Spencer, Mayfield, Junior: Spencer helped her team achieve 14 clean sheets, setting a new program record. Coach Ivica Miljak highlighted her reliability, composure, and critical role in the team's defensive success.
