Dr. Gates presented Chenoweth with a faded clipping from a small-town newspaper, revealing the story of one of her ancestors, Billy Eugene Ethridge. What made this discovery so astonishing? Billy, it turned out, possessed the very same musical theater spark that has made Kristin a star!
The newspaper article announced a local production of "The Wizard of Oz," and as Kristin read the cast list aloud, her voice filled with disbelief and delight: "The junior players guild production of The Wizard of Oz, opening at 8 p.m. Friday at the Great Hall of St. Matthew's Cathedral," she recounted. "The cast of the Wizard is as follows: Oz, Billy Eugene Ethridge."
