Get ready for an exciting season as Jye Etheridge, the charismatic Australian racer, steps up to lead the Berwick Bandits!
The Captain's Return
Jye Etheridge, a beloved figure in the racing world, is back at Shielfield Park, donning the captain's armband for his adopted hometown team. This isn't the first time Etheridge has taken on the leadership role; he previously captained the Bandits in 2021, and now he's returning to guide the team once more.
But here's where it gets interesting: the captaincy role has had its fair share of twists and turns. Danyon Hume, the captain in 2025, had to step down due to a serious injury, and the reins were passed to Drew Kemp. However, with Kemp's absence for the upcoming campaign, the role has found its way back to Etheridge.
Stewart Dickson, the Berwick boss, had this to say: "Jye is a vibrant and reliable presence in the pits, and I had absolute confidence in offering him the captaincy. He's honored to lead the Bandits, and we're all eagerly awaiting the start of the season."
And this is the part most people miss: the impact of a captain extends beyond the track. A captain's leadership and presence can inspire and unite a team, especially when they're as beloved and energetic as Jye Etheridge.
So, as we gear up for an action-packed season, let's celebrate the return of Jye Etheridge, the man who will lead the Berwick Bandits with his unique brand of bubbly enthusiasm.
What do you think? Is a captain's role solely about on-track performance, or does their presence off the track matter too? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
