February 14, 2026 at 3:27 pm ET • 1 min read

Moving Day has arrived in Pebble Beach, California, and the top of the leaderboard set to play the final 36 holes at Spyglass Hill Golf Course should create some fireworks over the next two days. Akshay Bhatia and Ryo Hisatsune enter Round 3 as co-leaders of the 2026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, holding a one-shot lead on Rickie Fowler and Sam Burns. Just behind them are Min Woo Lee (three back) and a group at T10 that includes Matt Fitzpatrick, Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama, Xander Schauffele and Jordan Spieth (among others), all aiming to make up as much of a five-shot deficit as they can before the day is out. Rory McIlroy is just one behind them, looking up from six down of the co-leaders, while the road for world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is much more difficult, needing to overcome a nine-shot gap after starting 72-66 in the tournament.

Sam Burns hits the lip for a near-ace at the iconic 7th hole

Sam Burns nearly had his second hole-out of the day, this time from the tee on the iconic par-3 7th hole at Pebble Beach. Burns flighted a sand wedge down and ripped it back, bouncing off the lip as it nearly went down for a hole-in-one. Burns couldn't convert a 5-footer for birdie and walked off with a disappointing par after nearly delivering the highlight of the week thus far. He's the third player today to scare the hole on the 7th, as Russell Henley had one bounce off the stick and Shane Lowry came an inch away from a second ace in the last two years at No. 7.

Akshay Bhatia opens up a 3-shot lead with four birdies in five holes

The chasers applied some early pressure, but now it's Bhatia who has taken the offensive at Pebble Beach, birdieing four of his first five holes to reach 19 under, three clear of second place. The wind is starting to become a factor, which makes Bhatia's hot start even more important, as he's created a cushion right as it's become a bit tougher to make a big run at him. His task at this point will be to remain steady and play smart golf, while the chasers will have to think more aggressively, which should give him a solid advantage this afternoon.

Akshay Bhatia opens birdie-birdie to reclaim the solo lead at 17 under

Bhatia has answered the bell in the final group with a birdie-birdie start to move to 17 under and take back the solo lead over Sam Burns and Ryo Hisatsune in the early going of his third round. Bhatia picked up where he left off after a stellar first two rounds and remains the only player who is bogey-free in the tournament. A crisp wedge on the first set up a short birdie look and then he backed that up with a birdie on the second, getting up-and-down from the greenside bunker thanks to a lengthy putt on the par 5 to remain perfect on the week in scrambling.

The wind is starting to freshen at Pebble Beach and is expected to stiffen as the day wears on, which is why it was important for Bhatia to get off to a strong start in his short window with the best of the weather after the rest of the field enjoyed a calm morning to close the gap some.

Shane Lowry comes inches away from an ace on No. 7 for the second year in a row

Shane Lowry loves the iconic 7th hole at Pebble Beach, and after making a hole-in-one last year in the first round, he nearly did it again in Saturday's third round when he spun a wedge that missed the cup by an inch or two. Lowry would tap that in for a birdie to get back to 11 under and into the top 20, but he nearly had a big tab to pay in the clubhouse for a second year in a row.

Sam Burns takes the lead with a hole-out eagle on No. 1

One group after Jake Knapp holed out for eagle on the 1st, Sam Burns followed suit to leapfrog the leaders and move into solo first at 16 under. Burns, usually known for his putting, didn't need to break out the flat stick on the first, as he took a much more direct route to the cup, throwing a wedge at the flagstick and having it drop straight into the hole for eagle. Given how hard Burns' ball hit the stick, it was fortunate the ball found the bottom of the cup and didn't ricochet further away. That friendly deflection gives Burns the lead as the leaders watched from the tee box, and they'll know they have to hit the gas pedal early on Saturday to keep pace with an early charge from the rest of the field on Saturday.

Rory McIlroy ejects with a triple bogey on the 4th hole

The 325-yard par-4 4th hole became a house of horrors for last year's winner, as Rory McIlroy made a shocking triple bogey 7 to erase all of his good work from the first three holes and fall back to 8 under, seven shots off the lead. McIlroy tried to drive it up near the green on the short par-4, but hung his drive out right and went off the cliff to the right of the hole. After taking his drop in the thick grass between the hazard line and the bunker, McIlroy flubbed his chip and ended up back in the hazard -- but playable. From there he could only hack it into the greenside bunker and then left his bunker shot in the rough before finally getting up-and-down for his 7. Given the scoring we've seen early on Saturday, it seems likely that triple bogey is the end of McIlroy's chances of repeating and continues a theme of the week, as McIlroy has given up a lot of strokes this week due to poor execution on holes he should otherwise take advantage of.

Jake Knapp holes out for eagle on No. 1 to get to 13 under

It is a birdie and eagle-fest out early at Pebble Beach with soft greens and a lack of wind. While we've seen a number of players make eagles on the par-5s, Jake Knapp managed to start his round as well as one possibly could with a hole-out eagle on the par-4 1st hole, spinning a wedge back into the cup from 130 yards out in the first cut to leap into T5 with Nick Taylor at 13 under, two off the lead. The leaders are going to need to get on their horse early, because the leaderboard is bunching up around them quickly. Some big names like Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler are also making an early move, and we should be in for some fireworks on this Saturday at Pebble Beach before everyone has to try and hold on in brutal weather on Sunday.

Shane Lowry off to a hot start with three birdies in three holes

Last year's runner-up at Pebble Beach is making a move early on Saturday, with birdies on his first three holes of the day. With the hot start, Lowry is now in the top 10 at 11 under par for the tournament, four shots off the lead. As they start their day on a calm, cool morning, now is the time to get after the golf course and Lowry has done just that. Things are expected to get tougher later in the day, so players need to be in an aggressive mindset early and be ready to adapt to changing conditions as the round comes to a close.

Pebble Beach remains gettable to start Saturday's third round

While the expectation is for the wind to pick up as the day wears on, scoring conditions remain favorable to start Saturday's third round action at Pebble Beach. 19 of the 36 players on the course are under par in their first four holes, led by J.T. Poston who is -3 thru 4 and climbing the leaderboard into the top 20. For those who tee off in the next hour before the leaders get on the course, it'll be important to take advantage of the continued excellent conditions, because the forecast calls for the wind to pick up around 1 p.m. PT and continue getting stronger as the afternoon wears on. That could pose some challenges for the final groups of the day, and help condense the leaderboard going into the final round in rainy, windy conditions.
